Transfer Rumour: Stefan Scougall to Bradford City

As the transfer merry-go-round begins on social media, it looks as if League Two side Bradford City are keen to welcome a new roster of midfielders into the club; potentially starting off with Stefan Scougall.

As City have already been linked with a similar player with Luca de la Torre also rumoured to be a future Bradford man, it is becoming clearer what type of player Stuart McCall is wanting to bring in, a creative spark in the number 10 role to potentially replace the outgoing Shay McCartan and Chris Taylor. Scougall, who has just been released by fellow League Two side Carlisle United, had a mediocre side for the Cumbrians, scoring 2 goals and 1 assist in 20 games but also brings a wisdom of versatility as he is reliable in the centre of midfield, the attacking midfield and as a winger, which makes sense due to his size of 5 foot 7.

Scougall has had an impressive career, having already made approximately 220 appearances in professional football, starring for Livingston, Sheffield United, Fleetwood Town, St. Johnstone and most recently Carlisle. He also was talented enough to represent his country at under-21 level, having made two appearances for the Scotland Under-21's side, featuring against the USA and Netherlands but it could've been more if he hadn't struggled with injuries and been forced to withdraw from game time against Canada and Greece.

Not only is the 27 year old available on a free transfer, he is also entering the prime of his career and next season has the potential to be a key player in McCall's side, perhaps having the flair and technicality to replicate the influence of Mark Marshall or Jack Payne during their stints at the club.
