EXCLUSIVE: Tyrell Waite on Tamworth FC, His Career in Sweden and Arsenal

Tamworth FC have had a terrific league season, having emerged as clear title favourites due to being level on points with Peterborough Sports at the spearhead of the table with three games in hand on their title counterparts. However, the Lambs dream season was thwarted following the FA's contested decision to declare steps three to six of non-league football, meaning that the entire season had been nothing.

One positive segment of the Lambs season was forward Tyrell Waite's performances; as the powerful forward bagged himself nine goals in an inside forward role. Waite has had an imposing career, featuring for an array of different clubs; including Ilkeston, Lincoln City and even Skelleftea who play in the second division of Swedish football.

Waite spoke on Tamworth's banished title, saying: "It was frustrating, as you can imagine, the players, staff, put a lot of hard work into what was going on throughout the season.

"And we was on course for something which we thought we deserved so it was a tough one to take."

However, Waite remains optimistic looking forward to the next campaign: "Tamworth's one of the biggest clubs in the league so promotion or play-offs should be high on the list for sure, I don't see no reason why it can't be achieved.

"I will always give 100% when needed to do a job for my team-mates, and I'll carry on to do so."

Like club captain Ryan Beswick, Waite was full of praise for the joint management team of Gary Smith and Andy Danylyszyn: "[They] are very good. From the moment they took charge of the first team they took a like to me, which was a positive.

"It gave me confidence to just go out there and play my own game which has shown under them being in charge." The forward boasts a wealth of international experience over his career having featured in Sweden for Skelleftea, where he scored a lethal 9 goals in 15 games: "It's a new challenge going somewhere where the language is a big barrier.

"But it improved me as a player and a person in general so it was overall a very good experience for me."

He also spoke positively on his time at Ilkeston, saying his favourite career moment was: "Making my pro debut in the league has to be up there or scoring my first goal, always a good memory."

Along with his footballing career, Waite is an avid Arsenal fan and spoke positively about the Gunners future: "[Arsenal] need to start fresh again and start buying some decent players like the old times, they ain't enjoyable to watch anymore.

"I believe it's possible with the experience he [Mikel Arteta] had under Pep [Guardiola], you can tell already he's a very good coach, but like I said I still think he needs more than what he's got to achieve Europe."

Whilst Tamworth have been denied a possible promotion by the FA, under Smith and Danylyszyn expectations appear to high heading into next season after Beswick and Waite both spoke optimistically when it comes to team cohesion and quality heading into the 2020/21 season.
