Whilst the decision to deem non-league football null and void means victory for the likes of Bradford Park Avenue and Redditch United, who were all but confirmed relegated, it spells bad news for Tamworth FC.
The Lambs sat 2nd in the BetVictor Southern Premier Central League but were level on points with Peterborough Sports FC, despite Tamworth having two games in hand on the Turbines. It looked inevitable that the Staffordshire side would go on to secure the league title as they had won six of their previous seven games, as club captain Ryan Beswick voiced his disappointment at the Lambs disfortune.
Beswick said: "Yes, obviously the outcome is very disappointing for everyone, we weren't guaranteed to go up but we'd put ourselves in a very strong position.
"We feel it would have taken a very good run of form for somebody to stop us. Obviously everyone is very frustrated at the moment that we haven't got the chance to go and see how the season panned out.
"But health comes first and the lads are just looking forward to getting back on the pitch, whenever that is."
A large reason for Tamworth's success this season is from the club's joint managers Andrew Danylyszyn and Gary Smith.
Beswick stated: "Yes, it is very good. They have a good blend between them, two very different characters!
"Andy is a top, top coach who I believe has and will make a lot of players improve and Smudge [Gary Smith] is a proper chilled, top bloke and between them they can get the best out of the players."
In terms of the club, Beswick also praised how it has changed since he first joined from Nuneaton back in 2018, as well as what was in store for next season: "Yeah there is quite a difference. Obviously when I first came they had just been relegated so it wasn't a great place to be and I think it took some time for the club as a whole to adjust to that.
"But since Andy and Gary came in last January the club has shown a real upturn, on and off of the pitch. Hopefully after another league campaign we will be challenging at the top and hopefully get the chance to finish what we started."
The Lambs captain spoke on how he was remaining active during the coronavirus lockdown: "Yes, all the lads are, there is nothing much else to do and so we are in contact every day comparing what fitness we have done."
Beswick has had an excellent career, but had his biggest impact at Solihull Moors, where he spent seven years at Damson Park. When asked about his favourite ever goal in his career, Beswick expressed: "Ooh, I scored a decent one on the first game of this season which was nice after a very long pre-season.
"But I am going to have to say for Solihull Moors in the clubs first ever game in the National League away at Sutton United, to captain the club I'd been at a good few years and score their first at that level and with my dad being there, that was a pretty special moment."
