As the non-league season draws to a close, many clubs will begin to look to next season; and who they can bring in.
The worst part of football is being released from a football club, especially now with many clubs watching their wage bill due to the coronavirus pandemic, but former Bromley man Briggs Ojemen is overcoming the mental barrier which some players unfortunately face in their career and is remaining optimistic ahead of his career.
The left-back spent a short two month loan spell at Isthmian League North Division side Romford FC: "Romford FC was apart of my journey that I enjoyed. A different manager, a different playing style and a different changing room, I was very much out of my comfort zone and thrown right into the deep end because we were rock bottom in the league.
"Every game there were three points to fight for! And short loan spells are definitely worth the time if you need the minutes, which I very much did."
Romford are also owned and managed by well-known owner Glenn Tamplin, who had invested in the Boro after years of backlash and media attention at Billericay Town: "He was at most training session and games, me and him made a great relationship during my time there."
Ojemen also backed some of his former team mates at Romford to reach the heights of the National League: "Yes, one hundred percent, I was playing with Jason Banton and Theo Ola and also ex-professionals were in that squad; Adam Morgan for example."
The young Englishman spoke on his future after Bromley ended his contract: "My goal is to play in the league, but yes, the National League is a great level to be playing at, certainly at my age. In terms of trials, yes, I will be keeping all options open."
With football currently on halt, not just for Ojemen but also English football, the youngster has launched his new brand Global Club, with the aim of providing modern, affordable, high-quality streetwear for the visionaries: "As a footballer we do have a bit of time when we’re not doing anything other than recovering, for example a rest day or after training when we go home, it is challenging but a good challenge! I tend to use my rest days or whenever I can to focus on my brand. For example, during this pandemic, it has given me a lot of time to focus on my brand and make it better.
"I am aiming to bring a summer collection including a t-shirt and short set, and something for the females too so they don't feel left out! But yes, I have been staying fit, doing road runs and stuff and been working on my brand, but ultimately been staying safe."
For all National League, even North and South clubs, Ojemen looks as if he could be one of the biggest coups in this upcoming Summer transfer window, with his positive attitude and outlook, he has the potential to be a real addition to any non-league outfit.
