Flashback to late January 2015, and small League One side Bradford City did the unthinkable and came from two behind to defeat then-Premier League leaders Chelsea in what was controversially the biggest shock in FA Cup history.
Phil Parkinson's Bantams went to Stamford Bridge as nobody's and returned as heroes.
Which begs the question- where are they now?
GK- Ben Williams- upon leaving Stamford Bridge, Williams went on to play for Bury, Blackpool and Bolton (has somethings for club's beginning with the word 'B' I guess) and is now part of the backroom staff at the Trotters, acting as an academy goalkeeping coach since 2018.
RB- Stephen Darby- the City legend was unfortunately advised to retire back in September of 2019 after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease. He has since set up the Darby Rimmer MND foundation to help support the families of those affected by motor neurone disease. Of course there were the emotional Bradford vs Liverpool friendly at the beginning of the season to commemorate his excellent career and he still goes to City games, after travelling with the Bantams to their Salford City defeat at the weekend.
CB- Rory McArdle- he currently competes at the same level of football as City at Scunthorpe United. He was previously their captain, but has since been replaced by Andy Butler.
CB- Andrew Davies- currently a free agent having left Dundee FC by mutual consent in September 2019. However, before that he had played and captained for Ross County before returning to England with Hartlepool United as his wife had not settled in Scotland.
LB- James Meredith- the Bantams stalwart departed the club for Millwall after the Lions defeated City in the 2017 play-off final at Wembley. His contract was mutually terminated on the 31st of July 2019 and he returned to his home country Australia to feature for A-League side Perth Glory in their battle for the title.
CM- Billy Knott- the man remember by City for 'that' Leeds goal, the midfielder spent time at Lincoln City, Gillingham and Rochdale before returning to Concord Rangers, his hometown club. Knott revealed he has been dealing with mental health problems and has since joined fellow Essex side Chelmsford City in their battle for promotion.
RM- Mark Yeates- having scored the final goal at Stamford Bridge, 35 year old Yeates has since played for Oldham Athletic, Blackpool, Notts County, Eastleigh and currently, AFC Fylde.
CM- Gary Liddle- played against City this season Walsall, but originally left the Bantams for Chesterfield. Liddle went on to join Carlisle United before Walsall, but has been sent out on loan by the Saddlers to Hartlepool United for the rest of the season.
RM- Filipe Morais- the Chelsea youth prospect followed Parkinson to Bolton Wanderers from Bradford but left the Trotters for Crawley Town in 2018. He has been loaned out to Oldham Athletic for this season.
CF- Billy Clarke- the Irishman departed City for Charlton Athletic but was riddled with injuries before rejoining the Bantams at the end of last season. Bradford opted to not extend his contract and so he moved to Plymouth Argyle for a short stint until Ian Holloway's Grimsby Town called.
CM- Andy Halliday- he is currently applying his trade at Rangers but is out of contract at the end of the season.
CM- Christopher Routis- the Frenchman joined Ross County alongside Raffaele De Vita in 2016 and made 56 appearances for the Staggies but in 2018 moved to Switzerland to play for Servette, a club based in Geneva.
ST- James Hanson- the target man Bradford stalwart is currently playing for League Two side Grimsby Town alongside Billy Clarke after controversially leaving Valley Parade for Sheffield United in January 2017. He had short tenures at Bury and AFC Wimbledon too.
ST- Jon Stead- the veteran forward remains in Yorkshire at Harrogate Town after joining from Notts County at the beginning of the season.
